This Vacation Has Gone to Hell!

Tuesday July 28, 2009
Today we divided up and Mama took the boys – Myles and Gavyn – to the Professional Football Hall of Fame. They really enjoyed the museum and the Hall of Fame, and learned a lot about the game they enjoy watching so much. The gift shop made them very sad because everything was so expensive. While they were begging for $80 dollar shirts and $50 dollar footballs the rest of the family was hanging around at a park that turned out to be the final resting place of President McKinley. Go figure. When we regrouped everyone was hungry so we picked a restaurant out to the list the Garmin provided and went to a cute little diner. The food was very good and Myles especially enjoyed a delicious BLT that he pronounced was “to die for good.” After being in the car for over a month we decided that we didn’t have far to go to get to hell so we headed for Hell, Michigan. The drive was very scenic and we ended up arriving a dusk at the three buildings that comprise the town of Hell. One of them was a very kitchy gift shop specializing in all things hellacious. We got lots of giggles out of the visit and kids had ice cream with toppings scooped from bowls resting in a coffin! We had fun but then were stuck in the middle of Hell with nowhere to sleep. We drove a bit more to nearby Chelsea and spent the night in a motel that boasted a Swiss Chalet style. Quite a contrast! So now you all know folks who have been to Hell (MI) and back!
