The Great Smoky Mountains

Today we had another delicious Holiday Inn Express breakfast consisting of eggs, toast, cinnamon rolls, and various juices. Then we set off for the Great Smoky Mountains. They were so beautiful. Unfortunately this was the busiest day of the park all year; the park ranger said Fourth of July is always the busiest. So there was a lot of people there. But we still got to do some cool things in the park.
First we did a small hike (only 2.6 miles round trip) to Laurel Falls. Myles ran ahead of the rest of us and arrived there fifteen minutes before Mike and I. Ten minutes after us, bringing up the rear of out party, was Chris, Kim, Gavyn, and Logan. We got some great pictures of the falls, but Chris hasn't loaded them on to the computer yet, so I cannot put them on the blog. Hopefully tomorrow!
After our nice hike we ate a picnic lunch on the lawn in front of the visitors center. The visitors center was very nice, and we watched the little movie on Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was very busy, so after that we left.
We drove for about an hour, then looked for a camp site. We found a place with a small camp site, because all the other campgrounds were full. But at least it has wifi so I can update the blog! After a dinner of hot dogs, beans, and s'mores (yum) we are all pretty tired. Tomorrow we are going to D.C.!
