A Super Secret Mission

Due to lack of Internet access and a busy schedule, we have fallen behind with our travel log/blog. Mama has some free time today and is going to write a few days to try to catch us up.

There is so much to see in this area. The boys are really enjoying hiking along the part of the Adirondack Trail that is just up the hill from Nana’s house. They have discovered a giant rock and surprise, surprise, a creek to wade in. The adults spend the day trying to get some laundry done. Nana does not have a dryer, but kind neighbors help. We decide to take the kids to see the West Point Museum. The boys are having fun outside and do not really want to go, but that all changes when they see that the entire museum is dedicated to the army and its history. The girls are reclining in air conditioned splendor while excited boys run around and exclaim over displays of famous battles, historical armaments including a 4000 year old Egyptian axe, and the full size tanks in the basement. Myles especially enjoys this stop. We visit the West Point Gift Shop and then drive through Highland Falls and head back home. Mama takes Lydia off to see Harry Potter #6. We have a tradition of going to see the HP movie at the midnight premiere, but we were too tired the night before. Both agree it is a very well done movie, but sad. Meanwhile Aunty Up takes the boys to Long Pond. Long Pond is a lovely lake run by the town for swimming fun. The boys had a good time. It is similar to the beach where Chris and Kim spent summers at the Masonic Camp on Lake Kenawake, and it made a very peaceful afternoon. Nana makes homemade fried chicken for dinner and the kids tuck in. Chris and Kim however head off on a mysterious super-secret mission that leads them deep into New Jersey. More on that tomorrow!
